Yes Commissioner ** Free Entry **

Friday 14 December 2018 (opening 8:00 PM)

at The Stag & Hunter Hotel ( venue info )
187 Maitland Rd, Mayfield NSW

Back in the mid 1980's when the cold war was warming, unemployment reached alarming levels and youth alienation was a hot topic, Newcastle had a band that sought solace in popular culture to both confront and escape these issues. Yes Commissioner hit Newcastle with a mixture of glam, punk and new wave music performed with unusual energy. The band became a popular choice in a city that was famous for its vibrant musical night-life. Now thirty years on John Harris (guitar), Keith Brettell (drums) and Justin Collins (vocals) are combining with Gina Collins (bass) of On and Pow Wow fame to revisit and reinvent some of those heady eighties days. Now in the twenty teens as the world is Trumped, unemployment hovers like a sword of Demosthenes over everyone and social media alienates exponentially Newcastle needs Yes Commissioner to reaffirm its place in the musical maelstrom.
